COMMUNITY SERVICE AT DAYBREAK CENTRE 17/08/11 (PART 1)

We had a fun time today with the trainees(handicapped individuals) at the Daybreak Centre, Pengkalan. We had a light meal comprises of mihun and mineral water before we started our journey there. We reached there around 9 o'clock in the morning. We were greeted warmly by the manager, Mr Cheong and also the therapist, Juth.

First, we were gather at the conference room for a short video clip to be shown. It was mostly about the foundation of Daybreak and how it keeps expanding. Most importantly, Daybreak is not a profit-based centre.

Then, we had a tour around the centre. First we went to the nurseries where the trainees were capable in maintaining a good condition of the nurseries besides planting and weeding without  the help from anyone particularly.

The prices for the plants are considered cheap. You can get 3 young plants for only RM10.
Then we went to the socks production factory where they had 10 machines to knit the socks into a long fabric and the trainees were supposed to cut it and sew it. Every stitches counts!
Besides, they had to pack stickers into tiny packets. They had to pack it neatly and there was a certain way to do it. For every 1000 packets, they would get RM4. Imagine the hard work and their determination!

P.S. the 2nd part will be posted after we had finished processing the pictures(:
